Durland W. “Doug” Doud, 80, of North Ridgeville, passed away Tuesday, April 29, 2014, at the Northridge Health Center in North Ridgeville, following a long illness. He was born June 2, 1933 in Mansfield, Pennsylvania.
Mr. Doud had been a resident of North Ridgeville since 2001 and was previously a life-long resident of the Galeton, Pennsylvania area. He was a veteran and served in the U.S. Marine Corp during the Korean War. Mr. Doud received his high school diploma from North Ridgeville High School in 2006 through a special state program to honor Korean War Veteran’s. Before retiring, Mr. Doud worked as a laborer and machinist at various Galeton area factories. He was a member of the Methodist Church in Galeton, the Moose Lodge in Galeton and of the Veteran’s of Foreign Wars post in Galeton. Mr. Doud was an avid sports fan.
He is survived by one daughter, Sharon Kleva of Sewell, New Jersey; two sons, Thomas Dake, Sr. and James Doud, both of North Ridgeville; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of over 50 years, Martha (nee Beiling) in 2009; and one brother, Richard Doud of Wellsboro, Pennsylvania.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, May 3, 2014, at 12 Noon, at the Carleton Funeral Home, Inc., Wellsboro, Pennsylvania, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Reverend Darwin “Tink” Cranmer will officiate. Burial will be at Elk Run Cemetery in Gaines, Pennsylvania.
