He was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church and a graduate of Elyria Catholic High School, where he participated in band and drama. He was active in the Elyria Young Democrats. He was a project manager in construction on jobs that took him all over the United States and to Mexico, Brazil, Spain and England. He was known for his generosity to family and friends.
He is survived by his mother, Rose Ann (nee Boyle); three brothers, Robert (Linda) Austin of Grafton, Timothy (Barb) Austin of North Ridgeville and Bryan Austin of Amherst; two nephews, Michael and Isaac Austin; and one niece, Rebecca Austin.
He was preceded in death by his father, Edward D. Austin; and an infant sister, Sally Marie Austin.
Friends will be received at the Reichlin Roberts Funeral Home, 327 Cleveland Street, Elyria, Sunday, May 4, 2014 from 5 to 9 P.M. Closing prayers will be in the funeral home Monday, May 5, 2014 at 10 A.M. followed by Mass at 10:30 A.M., at St. Jude Church, 590 Poplar Street, Elyria, with the Reverend Father Frank P. Kosem, Pastor, officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Elyria.
