Lorain fire victim had high blood-alcohol content

LORAIN — Lonnie Mullett Jr., who was killed in a March 9 fire in his home at 418 Kentucky Ave., had a blood-alcohol content nearly three times the legal limit for driving, according to the Lorain County Coroner’s Office.

A toxicology report released Thursday said Mullett had a blood alcohol content of 0.23. The legal limit is 0.08. Assistant Fire Chief and Fire Marshal Jeff Fenn wrote in a report on the fire that alcohol may have contributed to Mullett’s death.

Mullett, 39, died of smoke inhalation. The fire, called in about 3:25 a.m., started a on a stove, according to the report.
