Lost wallet returned, but bank debit card used

ELYRIA — A man who lost his wallet after playing music for a church service got the wallet back this week in the mail with a note.

Unfortunately, the wallet did not contain a bank debit card, which had been used to make multiple purchases totaling about $275 before the man canceled it, police said.

The man told police he had received a ride April 27 to the Second Baptist Church at 327 Chapman Lane from his pastor.

When he left that church for services at a second church later in the day, he discovered he didn’t have his wallet and a cardholder, both of which were in his back pocket.

A medical card was the only item found in the pastor’s car, which had been used since the man was given a ride to church, reports said.

On Wednesday, the man received an envelope in the mail containing his wallet and a letter that stated the wallet was found on Elm Street.
