Marshall E. Rider, Jr., 82, of Elyria, died Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Avon. He was born April 7, 1932 in Cannelton, West Virginia and was a 1950 graduate of Montgomery High School, Montgomery, West Virginia.
After graduation, Marshall moved to Elyria and worked for General Motors Fisher Guide Plant, where he was employed for over 30 years. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and also served with the U.S. Navy Reserves, altogether 42 years. He was also a member of Lorain County Sheriff’s Auxiliary seven years and enjoyed U.S. military and politics.
Marshall is survived by a brother, Carl (Barbara) Rider of Elyria; and sister, Phyllis Bogue of Tavares, Florida.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruby Jane Rider in 1992; daughter, Debra Rider in 2008; infant son, Edward Dean Rider; sister, Margie Harrah in 1985; and his parents, Marshall E., Sr. and Lucille J. Rider.
