John E. Savage, 68, of Brunswick, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Saturday, May 3, 2014. He was born on October 13, 1945 in Bucyrus, Ohio to the late John F. and Susan V. (nee Sedlack) Savage.
John proudly served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the Brunswick Eagles 3503, Brunswick VFW Post 9520, Disabled American Veterans, and a former Eucharistic Minister for St. Ambrose Catholic Church. John was also an aviation enthusiast and will be most remembered for his warm, kindred spirit and as a deeply loving family man. He was the beloved husband of Janet “Ms. Jan” (nee Smolik) of 44 years; loving father of Matthew John (Victoria) Savage, Joyelle Marie (Jeramee) Caraballo, and Mark Joseph Savage (deceased); father-in-law of Shannon Savage; and treasured Papa of Victoria, Zane, Alexander, Nathen, Xavier, Julianna, and Maximillian.
Friends and family may call on Tuesday, May 6, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. at Waite & Son Funeral Home, 3300 Center Rd. Brunswick, Ohio and one hour prior to Mass at the church on Wednesday. Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Wednesday, May 7 at 10 A.M. at St. Ambrose Church, 929 Pearl Rd, Brunswick 44212. Interment with honors will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Valley City.
