Robert A. Piazza, 69, of Elyria, died suddenly Thursday, May 1, 2014 at his home in Port Orange, Florida. Bob was born in Lakewood on November 16, 1944 and made his home in Elyria for most of his life.
He was a graduate of Elyria Catholic High School in 1962 and served with the U.S. Army. He earned both his undergraduate degree and his doctorate at Ohio State University. He was an attorney with Piazza and Cooke-Szczepanski Co., where he practiced law with Amanda Cooke-Szczepanski in Elyria.
He was a member of St. Jude Church, the Elyria Kiwanis and past member of Elyria Jaycees. He was the former manager of Midland Title, the past owner of Elyria Land Title and he was associated with Old Republic National Title. He enjoyed walking on the beach during his many visits to his Florida home, but his work as an attorney was his life. He was a devoted husband and caregiver to his wife.
He is survived by his wife, Rosemary (Janet) (nee Siers); two brothers, Charles Piazza, Michael (Rheta) Piazza; one sister, Mary Jane (Richard) Pasky, all of Elyria; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, August and Josephine (nee Campagna) Piazza.
Friends will be received at the Reichlin Roberts Funeral Home, 327 Cleveland Street, Elyria, Wednesday, May 7, 2014 from 4 to 8 P.M. Closing prayers will be in the funeral home Thursday, May 8, 2014 at 9:30 A.M. followed by Mass at St. Jude Church, 590 Poplar Street, Elyria, at 10 A.M., with the Reverend Father Frank P. Kosem, Pastor, officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Elyria, with full military honors provided by the VFW Post 1079.
