ELYRIA — A Collins man who broke into a Vermilion home after leaving a Super Bowl party pleaded guilty Monday to a burglary charge in Lorain County Common Pleas Court.

Jeffrey Knox, 37, was arrested about 2:15 a.m. Feb. 3 after a couple found him crouched at the foot of their bed and kicked him out of their house.

Knox, whom a breath test indicated was drunk at the time of his arrest, told Vermilion police that he had been drinking at a friend’s house all day, but left the party to go to a woman’s house.

After leaving the woman’s house with a bag of sandwiches and ice cream bars, he thought he had returned to the party, but instead found his way into the home of Matt and Alexandria Thompson.

Knox was arrested nearby with a bag of food and the Thompsons’ house keys.

He could receive prison time when he is sentenced later this year.

He’s not invited to my party.

Should have just used the “I had a bad upbringing” defense.

Seems to play well with Lorain County Judges.

You broke in their house to steal food?! Really?!
