Melvin Robert Ashworth, 71, of North Ridgeville, died at 7:13 A.M., Saturday, May 3, 2014, at home. He was born Thursday, September 3, 1942 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, a son of Virginia Clayton Kuhn of Waynesburg, Pennsylvania.
Mr. Ashworth proudly served with the U.S. Marine Corp during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed gardening and the outdoors. He also enjoyed working on his daughter’s buffalo farm. Mr. Ashworth was a truck driver for Jefferson Trucking Company in Lorain, from where he retired.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Carolyn Ashworth. Also surviving are four daughters, Chanda Ashworth of North Ridgeville, Melinda Fiery of Vermillion, Mellisa Kuhn, and Eleanor Kimmel, both of Glendale, Arizona; four sons, Challan Ashworth, of Amherst, John Kuhn, of Marshfield, Wisconsin, Melvin Kuhn of Vermillion, Melvin Colango, of Glendale, Arizona; 21 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; two sisters, Janet Kline, of Carmichaels, Pennsylvania and Patricia Rogers, of Waynesburg, Pennsylvania; one brother, Harry Herrod of Waynesburg, Pennsylvania; and several other nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one brother; Fred Herrod; and one sister, Linda Herrod
Friends will be received from 2 until 4 and 6 until 8 P.M., Friday, May 9, 2014, in the Milliken and Throckmorton Funeral Home, 197 N. Maiden St., Waynesburg, 15370, where services will be conducted at 11 A.M., Saturday, May 10, 2014, with the Reverend James Lewis officiating. Burial will be private. Military rites will be accorded at the funeral home Saturday by the James Farrell American Legion Post #330 of Waynesburg.
