Karl R. “Ricky” Blevins, Sr.

Blevins_KarlOBIT FLAGKarl R. “Ricky” Blevins, Sr., 64, of Elyria, passed away unexpectedly at his home Tuesday, May 6, 2014. He was born December 14, 1949 in Cleveland.

Ricky served in the United States Army. He was employed as an assembly leader at Riddell of Elyria for 13 years. He was known as “The BBQ King” in Elyria and was an enthusiastic fan of the Cleveland Browns, Indians, and Cavaliers.

Mr. Blevins is survived by his son, Karl R. Blevins, Jr. (Gloria) of Oakwood Village, Ohio; and daughter, Kimonique L. Blevins of Elyria; grandchildren, Karl R. Blevins, III, Kelsey Blevins, and Kaeloni Jenkins; and former wife and best friend, Kim Blevins of Elyria.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Blevins and Annie Ruth Horton (nee Weems); and grandmother, Susie Weems.

Friends may call 6 until 8 P.M., Friday, May 9, 2014 and 10 until 11 A.M., Saturday, May 10, 2014, at Busch Funeral Home, 114 Second Street, Elyria. Funeral service will be 11 A.M., Saturday, at the funeral home. Reverend Larry L. Harris, Sr., Pastor of Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Cleveland, will officiate.
