Susanne Braun (nee Staron), 67, of Avon, passed away Friday, May 2, 2014, at her home, surrounded by her family. She was a graduate of Brush High School and Miami University, where she received her degree in speech and hearing therapy. She met the love of her life, John Braun, at Miami and was a devoted wife and mother. She later wrote a regular article for the Morning Journal, and most recently, worked as a librarian at Avon Public Library. Sue was a member of Avon Women’s Club as well as the Avon United Methodist Church, where she served as a Stephen Minister and was involved with the women’s group. She was a local artist enjoying photography and watercolor painting; spending time at Lakeside and especially with her family.
Mrs. Braun is survived by two daughters, Kristen Jirecek of Avon and Kathy Mayo (Ralph) of Concord; three grandchildren, Nick, Ava, and Morgan; her father, William Staron of Athens, Ohio; three brothers, Bill (Nancy), Bob (Madeline) and Tim (Randy, friend), niece, Ginny; and nephews, Bill and Alex.
She was preceded by her husband, Dr. Frank John Braun (2004); and her mother, Beatrice Staron (nee Raub).
A memorial service will be held at Avon United Methodist Church, 37711 Detroit Road, Avon, Saturday, May 31, 2014, at 11 A.M. The Reverend Liz Krall will officiate. Private interment will be at Lakewood Park Cemetery, Rocky River. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be forwarded to the Avon School Fine Arts Endowment Fund, 35573 Detroit Rd., Avon, OH 44011 or the Avon United Methodist Church.
