Together again, beloved wife, Camilia “Faye” Griffith went to join her husband Reverend Joe G. Griffith in Heaven on Mother’s Day. Sis. Faye was born in Kona, Kentucky on May 3, 1935 and flew into the loving arms of Jesus on Sunday, May 11, 2014.
Sis. Faye was the perfect Pastor’s wife and opened her home to all. She loved to cook, was always trying to feed everyone, and never knew a stranger. She loved music, played the piano, and taught her children to sing. She also loved to knit, crochet, cook and share her recipes.
Sis. Faye’s Heavenly home-going reunited her with her parents, Herschel Lay and Ritter Virginia (Kincer); sister, Juanita Lay Ogden; brothers, Herschel Lay, Jr. and Basil Lay; and numerous other family, friends and former congregations’ members.
Sis. Faye’s memory will live on through her children, Garry Griffith of Elyria, David and Karen (Swartz) Griffith of Vickery, Darlene and Garry Fister of Manito, Illinois, Theresa and Bill Saganes of Medina; 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild. Faye and Joe opened their home to their extended family, Sally Bowen, Gail Douthitt and David Lay.
We will celebrate Sis. Faye’s life along with Bro. Joe’s life through visitation Monday, May 12, 2014 from 3 to 6 P.M. at First Community Church of God in Lorain, with the funeral service immediately following at 6 P.M. Reverend Garry Griffith and Steve Carney will officiate. Burial for the family will be held at a later date at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to First Community Church of God, 1330 Cooper Foster Park Rd., Lorain, OH 44053.
Arrangements are in the care of Wyers Funeral Chapel of Elyria, (440) 324-3371.
