Homer Mason, 88, of Eaton Township, passed away Friday, May 9, 2014 surrounded by his family, following a long illness. He was born March 18, 1926 in Millstone, Kentucky and had lived in Ohio since 1955.
He retired after 35 years of service with General Motors. Homer served during WWII with the U.S. Navy in the Pacific Theatre and had re-inlisted before the Korean War. He enjoyed camping, fishing and most of all, spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Beulah (nee Bates), whom he married May 28, 1956; his daughters, Sheila (Kim) Green of Nova, Maggie (Robert) Schworer of Grafton; sons, Donald (Emily) Mason of Grafton and John (Vicki) Mason of Vermilion; survivors also include nine grandchildren; six step grandchildren; five great grandchildren; sisters, Gertrude Fields of Kings Creek, Kentucky, Carrie Goodwin of West Union, Ohio, Joann Craft of Millstone, Kentucky, Bernice Stornes of Brook Park; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Maggie Mason; granddaughter, Jennifer; and by several brothers and sisters.
Friends may call Monday, May 12, 2014 in the Blackburn-Duke Funeral Home, 1021 Main St., Grafton, from 3 to 7 P.M. where funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 13, 2014 at 11 A.M., with Pastor Darrel Deer of the College Heights Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Eastlawn Cemetery, Brunswick. VFW Post #1079 will conduct military honors.
