Greta E. White (nee James), 60, of Amherst Township, passed away Sunday, May 11, 2014, at University Hospital Elyria Medical Center, following a sudden illness. She was born February 2, 1954, in Sutton, West Virginia.
Greta made her home in Amherst Township for the last 12 years.
She was employed as a custodian at Vermilion School District for 30 years. After retirement, she worked for Oak Ridge Retirement Home in Westlake. Greta loved take caring of her family and friends. Her hobbies included cross stitch, gardening and enjoyed watching “Survivor” every week. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her son and his fiancee, Jason Lee Hume and Christa Wheeler of Berlin Heights; grandchildren, Jaden Baker, and Cheyenne Wheeler; her brothers, Rick James of Florida, Tommy James of North Carolina.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 17 years, William Louis White on May 2, 2012; and her parents, William and Betty James (nee February).
Friends may call Wednesday, May 14, 2014, from 5 until 8 P.M., at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held Thursday, at 2 P.M., at the funeral home.
