Anne Irene Bretz (nee Fraser), 90, of Avon Lake, passed away, Friday, May 9, 2014, at home quietly, with family by her side. Anne was born January 21, 1924 in Niagara Falls, New York and lived in Avon Lake the past 42 years.
For 25 years, Anne worked for the Higbee Company, mostly downtown, in the sign and display department. She grew and cared for orchids. She was proud of her Scotch-English heritage and was known for cooking a traditional Christmas dinner including rib roast and Yorkshire pudding.
Anne is survived by daughter, Sandra Finke (James deceased); grandchildren, Christopher Finke (Cindy) of LaGrange, Michelle Woods (Steve) of Avon Lake; and great-granddaughter, Kelly McCurry.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, Robert T. Bretz, who passed away in 2011; parents, Robert A. and Dorothy G. (nee Bonnewelle) Fraser; brothers, Robert A., Jr. and George D.; and sister, Virginia.
Friends may call at the Busch Funeral Home, 32000 Detroit Rd., Avon, Thursday May 15, 2014, from 5 until 8 P.M. A Graveside Service will be at Crown Hill Cemetery, 8592 Darrow Rd., Twinsburg, Friday, May 16, 2014, at 11 A.M.
