Christine L. Highsmith, 58, (nee Smith) of Lorain, passed away at her home, Sunday, May 11, 2014, following a long illness. Mrs. Highsmith was born in Amherst on April 19, 1956, the daughter of the late Richard C. Smith and Darlene C. (nee Lucas) Miller, who survives.
She was a graduate of Brookside High School in the class of 1974, where she was a member of the National Honor Society. She attended St. Anthony Catholic Church in Lorain. She worked as the office manager at Joe Firment Chevrolet in Avon for 35 years. She loved spending time with her family, reading, gardening and taking vacations.
Mrs. Highsmith is survived by her husband, Robert J. Highsmith; daughters, Michele M. (Richard) Rucker, Robyn L. Highsmith, all of Elyria; grandchildren, Trey Tschaekofske, Jalen Rucker; her mother and stepfather, Darlene and Ralph Miller; sister, Valorie K. (Greg) Long of Beavercreek; brother, Richard J Smith of Sheffield Lake,
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her brother, Mark T. “Tim” Smith.
Friends may call Thursday, May 15, 2014, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M., at the Schwartz, Spence, Boyer & Cool Home For Funerals, 1124 W. 5th Street, Lorain. Funeral Services will be Friday morning, May 16, 2014, at 10 A.M., in the funeral home, with Father Richard Hudak, Pastor of St. Anthony Catholic Church, officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Lorain.
