Robert Lee Hardesty, 88, of Wellington, and formerly of Coshocton, passed away at Elm Retirement Village in Wellington, Monday, May 12, 2014. He was born in Coshocton County, January 11, 1926, the son of the late Roy and Delpha (Ogle) Hardesty.
Bob graduated from Keene High School, and was a police officer with the City of Coshocton for many years. He was a member of the Coshocton Eagles Lodge, Coshocton Moose Lodge, the Coshocton County Sportsman’s Club, and enjoyed fishing, gardening, and playing cards. He married Helen (McCurdy) Hardesty April 7, 1951, who preceded him in death on July 14, 2011.
He is survived by his daughter, Shirley (Lee) Johnson of Wellington; two grandchildren, Greta Johnson (Mike Gilbride) of Akron, and Aaron Johnson of Elizabeth City, North Carolina; and four great-grandchildren, Emma, Abigail, Wyatt, and Gabrielle.
Mr. Hardesty was preceded in death by three brothers, Clyde, Ward, Cecil; and two sisters, Madeline, and Edythe. A Funeral Service will be held in the Chapel of Given-Dawson Funeral Home, 186 Park Ave., Coshocton, 43812, on Friday, May 16, 2014, at 1 P.M., with Lloyd Tenney officiating. Burial will follow in Coshocton County Memory Gardens Cemetery. The family will greet friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service on Friday.
