AVON LAKE — Police are investigating a man who they suspect sexually assaulted his wife in April.
On Wednesday, police were given permission by the Lorain County Court of Common Pleas to take a DNA sample from Douglas Davis, 41, of Somerset Lane. Davis has been held at the Lorain County Jail on a $250,000 bond since his arrested on a rape charge in April.
Davis’ wife told police Davis sexually assaulted her April 13. While Davis admitted to having sex with his wife, he told police it was consensual and not an assault.
After her initial report, an examination was done on Davis’s wife and male DNA was found on her body, according to police. However at the time they had no DNA from Davis to compare to the evidence.
In 2008, Davis was convicted of menacing by stalking, intimidation and domestic violence through Lorain County Court of Common Pleas. Five years later, Davis was convicted on charges of domestic violence and abduction through the same court.
