Elyria High teacher Stacie Starr to appear on ‘Live With Kelly and Michael’

Kelly Ripa and Michael Strahan will sit down this morning with Drew Barrymore to talk about her new movie, have a psychic chat with Long Island medium Theresa Caputo and then share a stage with Elyria’s own Stacie Starr.

Starr will appear live as a guest on the nationally-syndicated “Live with Kelly and Michael” show. Starr is one of five finalists in the show’s National Top Teacher Search.

If this week’s previous shows are any indication, a trip to New York City is not the only thing Starr will enjoy. Each teacher featured this week has received a technology prize for their school as well as a trip for themselves — excursions to Israel, Alaska and Hawaii have been handed out so far.

Maryann Verlotti, who started Starr’s ascension to the small screen, is also in New York with her son, Dominic Zullo. Verlotti wrote a passionate letter to the show’s producers, calling Starr “the hardest working, most selfless woman I have ever had the pleasure of knowing.”

In preparation for today’s segment, show producers came to Elyria High School last week to follow Starr. They interviewed students, talked with teachers and created a highlight video the world will see today.

The show starts at 9 a.m. on WEWS Channel 5.

After the final teacher is profiled Friday, online voting for the grand prize winning teacher will begin. The winner will be announced on the show Tuesday.
