Carlis Perry, 84, of Oberlin, passed away Saturday, May 17, 2014, in Mercy Hospital in Lorain, after a long illness. He was born September 1, 1929 in Whitesburg, Kentucky and lived in Lorain County for the last 40 years.
He was a longtime member of the Little Edna Old Regular Baptist Church in Lorain. Carlis retired in 1985 from the Ford Motor Company, where he worked as a machine setter for 31 years. He was a member of Local #1250. He enjoyed church, hunting and fishing.
He is survived by daughters, Jeanette Gibson of Cleveland, Geneva Shirato of Columbia, South Carolina, Nadine Malinoski of Brunswick; sons, Clarence Perry of Grafton, Robert Perry of Cleveland, Samuel Perry of Oberlin and Roger Perry of Oberlin. Survivors also include 14 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and his sister, Edna Martin of Kite, Kentucky.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Leona Perry (nee Sexton) in 1997; son, Billy Wayne Perry; and his parents, Robert and Jane Perry.
Friends may call in the Little Edna Old Regular Baptist Church, 5160 Bond Ave., Lorain, Monday, May 19, 2014, from 4 P.M., until services at 6 P.M. Visitation will continue throughout the night and the next day, until services Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at 6 P.M. The visitation will continue until funeral services at 10 A.M., Wednesday, May 21, 2014, in the church, with Old Regular Baptist Ministers officiating. Burial will be in River Road Cemetery, LaGrange Township.
