Jean Louise Gladish, 83, of Lorain, passed away Saturday, May 17, 2014, at Mercy Regional Medical Center, after a lengthy illness. She was born September 15, 1930, in Jersey Shore, Pennsylvania, to George and Sara (nee Sewalt) Long and graduated from Jersey Shore High School in 1948.
Jean worked as a secretary for many years at First Lutheran Church in Lorain and then went on to become the secretary at Lorain Lighthouse United Methodist Church for several years. She was a member of First Lutheran Church in Lorain. She enjoyed sewing, ceramics and reading and was known for her wonderful sense of humor and wit. Jean was an excellent listener and a good friend to all.
Jean is survived by her husband of 60 years, Richard C. Gladish; daughters, Karen (Larry) Turner of Lorain, Sharon Gibson of Vermilion and Diane (Donald) Hans of Lorain; grandchildren, Jessica (Ron) Myers, Jon Turner, Angela (Anthony) Gibson, Scott Gibson, Jr. Christopher (Hanna) Gibson, Melanie (Alan) Larkins and Craig (Lindsey) Jordan; great-grandchildren, Corey and Owen Larkins, Jon Turner, Jr., Anthony Faiken and Elijah Gibson; and sister, Doris Taylor, of Pennsylvania.
She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Sara Long.
A memorial service will be held for Jean Friday, May 23, 2014, at 6:30 P.M., at First Lutheran Church, 603 Washington Ave., Lorain. Reverend Jimmy Madsen, Pastor of First Lutheran Church, will officiate.
The family suggests contributions be made in memory of Jean, to First Lutheran Church.
