Raised in the Cleveland suburbs, Debra graduated from Medina High School in 1974. After attending Ohio State University, Debra moved to Atlanta and later, Sacramento, working in retail as an assistant regional buyer. She later moved to New Jersey to rear her family, where she actively participated in her children’s early education in Summit and Berkeley Heights. She relocated with her family, to the Richmond, Virginia area in 2003 and, subsequently, to Chesterfield, Missouri in 2008.
Debra’s knowledge of fine art stimulated a lifelong passion for form and composition which manifested keenly in her passion for interior design. She also delighted in creating elaborate costumes for her children’s school plays and annual Halloween parades. Debra was devoted to her family most of all, and was especially fulfilled feeling the love and affection her children share for one another. Debra’s kindness, sharp wit, and warm, loving spirit will be missed and remembered fondly by all whose lives she touched.
She was the beloved wife of Paul Doherty; and loving mother of Alex Rittwage, Sarah Doherty and Owen Doherty. Debra was the loving daughter of Donald Roalsen; dear sister of Jennifer Roalsen, Merritt “Bear” Roalsen and David Roalsen.
A memorial service will be held at the Schrader Funeral Home and Crematory, Ballwin, Missouri, Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at 11:30 A.M.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mercy Hospice, 1000 Des Peres Rd, St. Louis, MO 63131, in Debra’s name.
