Police investigating stabbing of teenager

ELYRIA – A longstanding feud between a teenager and a 20-year-old came to a head early Wednesday morning when the adult’s brother stabbed the teenager in the back

The 20-year-old and his 23-year-old brother had fled by the time police arrived at the scene on the 300 block of 11th Street about 1 a.m. on Wednesday.

However, officers did find the 15-year-old victim with a single stab wound to his back still in the area. He was taken to MetroHealthMedicalCenter, where police were able to speak with him about what happened.

The teenager told police he’d had an argument with the 20-year-old at about midnight on the 1500 block of Middle Avenue. An hour after the argument, he said he was walking on the 300 block of 11th Street and ran into the 20-year-old again, who was accompanied by his 23-year-old brother. The teen said they started arguing again, prompting the 20-year-old to spray him with pepper spray before the 23-year-old stabbed him in the back, according to police.

The men ran off, leaving the teenager with a stab wound and a punctured lung, according to police. He was in stable condition at MetroHealth on Wednesday.

“This was not random. These are two people that know each other,” Elyria Police Capt. Chris Costantino said of the longstanding relationship between the 20-year-old and the teenager.

Costantino said the police department has the 23-year-old in custody and plans to charge him with felonious assault. They are still looking for the 20-year-old.

A few stupid questions?? What was a 15 year old doing out that late at night regardless what day it was. and why does a 15 year old have anything to do with a 20 year old? This is crazy. Where is the 15 year olds parents?

    • Otter

Good question, I’m guessing there is a lot more to this story.

    • Bob

How about they start fining parents $1000.00 for their kids being out past curfew not just for illegal parties.

  • Sis Delish

    Were there any “hoodies” involved?

    • Kelvin Gray

Why, you’ve got some? You know something that you wanna tell the world?

I love hearing about stuff like this happening a few blocks from my house.

  • Tamra Tury

One more stupid question..If they are still looking for the 20yr old why wouldn’t they say his name and give a description?

    • Mark B

You know the Liberal CT wouldn’t want to facilitate him being caught , after all it is because of his bad childhood and society that has made him the way he is , its not his fault .

      • Bob

‘The stabbings are an example of a failed policy by Republican Gov. John Kasich, according to a spokeswoman for Democratic gubernatorial candidate Ed FitzGerald. Lauren Hitt said in a Tuesday news release that Kasich’s priority is tax cuts for the rich.

“This most recent stabbing is just the latest example of the governor putting the well-off and well-connected ahead of hardworking Ohioans,” Hitt said.’
