Paul R. “Shag” Simpson, 67, of Lorain, died Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at Mercy Regional Medical Center, after a sudden illness. He was born June 30, 1946 in Akron and had been a Lorain resident for the past 45 years, moving from Piedmont.
Paul worked for as a Committee man for Ford Motor Company Lorain and Avon for 39 and a 1/2 years, retiring in 2007. He was a member of the UAW #425. Paul enjoyed sleeping, sitting on the front porch talking to the neighbors and loved his cats and dogs.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Caroline (nee Stottlemire) Simpson of Lorain; sons, Paul (Lisa) Simpson of Lorain, Michael Simpson of Youngstown and Brian Wright of Lorain; daughters, Kelli Simpson of Lorain and Malinda (nee Stewart) Henry of Lorain; 13 grandchildren, four great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arrnet and Bessie Cook; and grandson, Devin.
The family will receive friends Friday, May 23, 2014 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 P.M. at the Riddle Funeral Home, 5345 South Street, Vermilion. Funeral services will be Saturday, May 24, 2014 at 11 A.M. in the funeral home, with Reverend Mel Sayler officiating. Interment will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery, Vermilion.
