She attended Florida A&M, where she met her husband, Wendell, and later received a BA in Biochemistry from Cleveland State University. In 1962, she married her beloved husband, Wendell M. Logan, who went on to become founder/director of the Jazz Studies Department at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music. They settled in Oberlin in 1973.
Bettye was a real estate agent for Gorske-Hammond Agency in Oberlin. She also enjoyed cooking, decorating, entertaining, listening to music, reading and raising her granddaughter. She was a beautiful spirit, kind and loyal, caring for and loving everyone she met.
Bettye was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, (2010), Wendell M. Logan; and her father, Willie J. Reese. She leaves behind to mourn, her mother, Mellenee Reese of Selma, Alabama; two children, Marty and Felicia Logan of Dallas, Texas; daughter-in-love, Monya (Davis) Logan of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren, Kawren Scott of Oberlin; Wendell Logan, III and Leo Logan and Reese Logan of Dallas, Texas; along with a host of relatives, close friends and loved ones.
Her arrangements will be in private with family and close friends.
