ELYRIA — A Lorain man has been indicted on attempted murder, felonious assault, abduction and domestic violence charges for allegedly choking his girlfriend into unconsciousness in April.
When Lorain police arrived at the scene April 12, they found Timothy Loyer, 35, on top of Jennifer Varney, choking her.
Officers reported that Varney’s face was swollen and purple, and that she had visible strangulation marks on her neck when she was found. She was gargling in an effort to breathe before being taken to the hospital.
Loyer told police he was “only trying to help her ’cause she fainted,” according to a report on the incident.
Loyer’s sister, April Loyer, called police at 11:22 p.m. on the night of the attack to report her brother was trying to kill Varney. She told police the relationship between the couple was abusive and that there were children in the house at the time of the attack.
