Clifford R. Phillips, 72, of Pittsfield Township, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, May 25, 2014 at New Life Hospice Residential Center in Lorain, following a lengthy illness. Clifford was born July 23, 1941 in Waynesburg, Pennsylvania. He had made his home in Oberlin for the last 36 years.
Clifford owned and operated Cliff’s Auto Body Shop for 44 years. He was an active member of Tower Baptist Church in Lorain, where he served as a greeter and bus driver for many years. Clifford had a passion for cars and loved drag racing. He was an avid hunter.
Clifford leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife of 51 and a half years, Shirley Phillips (nee Tellman); his son and his wife, Clifford “Scott” and Terah Phillips of Louisville, Kentucky; his daughters and their husbands, Colette and Pat Cahill of Huber Heights, Ohio, Shawna and Matthew Livingston of Rochester, Ohio; his grandchildren, Clifford “Jacob”, Joshua, Patrick, Owen, Alexis, Naomi and Alayna; his brothers, Gary Phillips and his wife Donna of New Russia Township, Reverend Roy Phillips and his wife Bessie of Douglas, Wyoming, Raymond Phillips and his companion Susie Carpenter of Amherst; his sisters and their husbands, Sandy and Jimmy Booth of Scenery Hills, Pennsylvania, Bonnie and Mark Weiss and Donna and Mark Wald of Pennsylvania.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ira “Abe” and Evelyn Phillips (nee Conard).
Friends may call Tuesday, May 27, 2014 from 4 to 9 P.M. at the Hempel Funeral Home, 373 Cleveland Ave., Amherst. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at 11 A.M. at Tower Baptist Church, 1313 Tower Blvd., Lorain. The Reverend Gary Dorsey, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will follow at New Russia Township Cemetery, New Russia Township.
