LORAIN — A woman said her boyfriend got drunk, “flipped out,” and stabbed her son in the back before running from his house.

Branson Gunter, 27, was charged with felonious assault and assault about 10:30 p.m. Monday at his house on the 3200 block of Kneirim Dive.

Gunter’s girlfriend, Dawn Pickryl, told police Gunter started breaking furniture and throwing objects around the house before turning to her and ordering her to take him to the corner store.

When Pickryl and Gunter returned, Pickryl’s son, 19-year-old Anthony Pickryl, who was in the garage with a friend, started arguing with Gunter about destroying his mother’s property, according to the police report. During the argument, Gunter punched Anthony Pickryl’s friend, Jeremiah Byrd, 18, in the face, police said. Anthony Pickryl tried to break up the fight, but Gunter pulled out a knife and stabbed him in the back before running from the house, the report said.

Anthony Pickryl was flown to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland, treated and released.

As officers were talking to the family, Gunter came back to the house holding a bloody gray T-shirt, police said. He was taken into custody and told police, “Things got out of hand,” the report said.

He was taken to Lorain County Jail where he was being held on $25,000 bond on Tuesday.

He is scheduled to appear 1:30 p.m. Tuesday in Lorain Municipal Court.
