Marilyn L. Maxworthy, 73, of Medina, formerly of Erhart, passed away Sunday, May 25, 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Cleveland on November 5, 1940, to the late Sam and Mary (Rizzo) Stazzone.
Marilyn graduated from Midview High School and retired from the Lorain Correctional Institution after 15 years of service. She was a member of the Erhart Volunteer Fire Dept. for numerous years and was one of the first female firefighters in Medina County.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Family was everything to Marilyn. Her greatest love was watching her grandsons at their sporting events. She was an “extended grandmother” to many at Buckeye. Marilyn was a devoted, compassionate, understanding friend to all who came in contact with her. Always willing to help anyone, usually by her cooking and baking.
She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Kenneth; children, Anna Marie and Kevin (Jacky) Maxworthy; cherished grandsons, Timothy (Sarah), Nicholas and Zachary; beloved great-grandchildren, Macy and Levi; brother, Joe Stazzone of Medina; brothers, Ross and Sam Stazzone; sister, Denise Stazzone, all of Elyria; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her nephew, Michael Couperthwaite.
The family would like to thank Medina Meadows and Medina County Hospice for the wonderful care they gave our mother.
