Elyria blotter: Man charged with assault after argument at Ely Square

Friday, June 6

  • 8:14 a.m. — Best Western, 636 Griswold Road, a guest reported someone burglarized the truck he rented overnight. He said a GPS unit, tools and clothing with a combined value of $900 were stolen.
  • 3:29 p.m. — Ely Square, Fredrick Algood, 22, 1200 block West Ave., Elyria, arrested and charged with assault and unlawful restraint. Police said they saw Algood pushing and shoving a woman into a car. Police said the woman said Algood hit her and forced her into a car after getting into an argument at Ely Square. Police said Algood said, “I didn’t punch her. I shoved her face.”

Saturday, June 7

  • 12:25 a.m. — 400 block Bell Ave., a resident said she left her home about 9 p.m. Friday and when she returned about 12:20 a.m. Saturday, she found the screen removed from her back bedroom window. She said a computer, television and video games were stolen.
  • 2:34 a.m. — Wolfey’s Pub & Bistro, 1069 E. Broad St., Austin Dorsey, 23, Grafton Road, Elyria, arrested and charged with obstructing official business. Police said they responded to a disturbance in the parking lot and were told that Dorsey had been kicked out of the bar for starting a fight. They said Dorsey ran from them across state Route 57 before being caught. They said he was wanted on a domestic violence warrant.
