Thelma Ramsey (nee Brown), 85, of Elyria, died Wednesday, June 4, 2014, at Wesleyan Village in Elyria. Mrs. Ramsey was born in Huntington, West Virginia on September 16, 1928 and made her home in Elyria since 1969.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Elyria First United Methodist Church, where she frequently volunteered. She was a member of the American Legion, Post #12 Auxiliary and enjoyed playing bridge.
She is survived by one son, John S. (Tina) Ramsey of Elyria; and two daughters, Susan L. (Alan) Downey of North Ridgeville and Julia A. (Scott) Rorick of Huntsville, Alabama; 10 grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, Paul Brown of Louisiana; and a sister, Mary Drake of West Virginia.
Mrs. Ramsey was preceded in death by her husband, John Clinton Ramsey in 2012; two brothers, Gene and George Brown; and her parents, George Luther and Cassie Virginia (nee Crizer) Brown.
There will be a memorial gathering, under the direction of the Reichlin Roberts Funeral Home, 327 Cleveland Street, Elyria, at the Wesleyan Village Chapel, 807 West Avenue, Elyria, Wednesday, June 11, 2014, at 3:00 P.M., with Pastor Dan Reinke and Reverend Dalton Love officiating. A private inurnment will take place at Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria.
Memorial contributions may be made to Wesleyan Village Senior Living Foundation, the Alzheimer’s Association or to the Elyria First United Methodist Church.
