George Vukelic, 49, of Lorain, passed away Sunday, June 8, 2014, at Fairview Hospital, after a long illness. He fought his illness with bravery, dignity and good cheer and worried never for himself, but only for those of us who loved him. He was born April 26, 1965 in Lorain, and lived in South Lorain most of his life. He loved his neighbors and neighborhood.
George was a 1983 graduate of Southview High School and served in the United States Army National Guard. He was employed by Ford Motor Company in Avon Lake for 10 years, retiring in 2002 as a result of his illness.
He had many hobbies and interests. He especially enjoyed the days he spent riding his Harley motorcycle. George was a loyal and true friend to many and helped not only his friends and family but anyone in need in any way he could. Nothing he has ever done in his life, however, brought him as much joy as the time he spent with his beloved son and extended family.
George is survived, mourned and loved by his family, son, Austin; his sisters, Mary Ann (James) Campana and Draga (Richard) Olin; niece, Ava and nephew, Richard Olin; step niece, Toni (Scott) Shanahan; step nephews, Bob Campana, and BJ (Jen) Campana; and step great nieces and great nephews; and his son’s mother, Christina Mulica.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Milan and Jela (nee Yovetic) Vukelic.
The Vukelic family will receive friends Friday, June 13, 2014, from 3:30 until 7:30 P.M., in the Dovin and Reber Jones Funeral & Cremation Center, 1110 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst.
