Joseph John Kazovich, 89, of Elyria, died Monday, June 9, 2014 at Life Care Center of Westlake in Westlake. Mr. Kazovich was born December 3, 1924 in Chicago, Illinois and made his home with his daughter in Elyria since 2012, moving from Nebraska and Newark, Ohio.
He served with the United States Army and received the WWII Victory Medal. He was an accountant and bookkeeper and a member of St. Jude Church. Always a baseball fan, he preferred to play shortstop and tried out for the Chicago Cubs in his youth. A life time member of the United Serbian Society, he enjoyed bowling and making fudge.
He is survived by his daughter, Constance L. Kazovich of Elyria, with whom he made his home.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Florence in 1994; and his parents, John and Louise (nee Cervini) Kazovich.
Friends will be received at the Reichlin Roberts Funeral Home, 327 Cleveland Street, Elyria, Thursday, June 12, 2014 from 6 to 8 P.M. Closing prayers will be in the funeral home Friday, June 13, 2014 at 9:30 A.M. followed by Mass at 10 A.M. at St. Jude Church, 590 Poplar Street, Elyria, with the Reverend Father Frank P. Kosem, Pastor, officiating. Mr. Kazovich will be taken to Hayworth Miller Funeral Home in Winston Salem, North Carolina for graveside services and burial at Forsyth Memorial Park with full military honors.
