WESTLAKE – Police are searching for a man who tried to reach into a driver’s car and take a radar detector on Tuesday.

Around 10 a.m., a man was stopped for a light with his passenger side window open at the intersection of Hilliard Boulevard and Columbia Road, according to Westlake Police Capt. Guy Turner.

A 5-foot-8-inch-tall man in his late 20s or early 30s carrying a handgun, reached into the car and tried to take the driver’s radar detector, according to police.

The driver sped away from the intersection and the suspect ran eastbound on Hilliard Boulevard.
