LORAIN — The wife of a former city employee was charged with aggravated menacing after she allegedly sent threatening messages via Facebook to a previous neighbor.

Susan Critelli, 49, of the 2000 block of North Jefferson Drive, was taken to Lorain County Jail about 2:40 a.m. Friday after she exchanged a set of messages with a former co-worker of her husband.

The incident dates to June 2012 when the woman and Critelli’s husband, then United Steelworkers Local 6621 president Jack Critelli, worked together for the city of Lorain. In June that year, the woman “moved off the block” because she and her husband were divorcing, the police report stated.

From June 2012 until March 28, 2013, no contact was made between Susan Critelli and the woman. However, on four occasions from March 29 to April 29, 2013, Susan Critelli sent messages.

Starting in March 2013, Critelli sent her former neighbor a message informing her that she and her husband were talking about “fantasies and want you to come and join us.”

According to the police report, the woman responded by saying, “Whoa, the stuff he and I did? What does that mean? We didn’t do anything.”

Critelli continued to message the woman by saying “it would be wild and fun” and “really, we need to get together and just have some sexy fun … think about it.”

The woman contacted Lorain police, saying Critelli was trying to get her to admit to an affair that never happened while she was living next door.

Contact ceased until Thursday.

On Susan Critelli’s Facebook page, she posted two messages: “death” and “I think it is HILARIOUS that (expletive) think cops can do anything.”

But those weren’t the messages that got her arrested.

Police received a copy of the newest messages, which detailed threats. “You started a war you can’t finish honey. It will be great for all your local cops to know what a (expletive) you are.”

The woman then contacted Jack Critelli and asked him to have his wife stop messaging her. The woman added that she blocked Susan Critelli on Facebook on Thursday after the messages appeared.

Susan Critelli was released from the county jail at 4 p.m. Friday.
