Woman escapes injury in I-480 crash

NORTH RIDGEVILLE — A woman narrowly escaped death or serious injury Sunday when she lost control of the car she was driving and it crashed into the undercarriage of a tractor trailer.

The accident occurred about 5:10 p.m. on Interstate 480 by state Route 511, according to police Sgt. Matt Gorski. Mallory Cohen was eastbound just past the Ohio Turnpike split when the passenger side rear tire on the four-door, 2005 Honda Accord she was driving blew out.

Gorski said Cohen veered left under the eastbound truck and the Accord was dragged 300 feet. He said Cohen was out of the car and appeared uninjured when firefighters and police arrived. The truck driver was also unhurt.

Cohen, 21, of Arcadia, Calif., was taken to St. John Medical Center for precautionary measures. She was charged with failure to control.
