Woman escapes injury in I-480 crash

NORTH RIDGEVILLE — A woman narrowly escaped death or serious injury Sunday when she lost control of the car she was driving and it crashed into the undercarriage of a tractor trailer.

The accident occurred about 5:10 p.m. on Interstate 480 by state Route 511, according to police Sgt. Matt Gorski. Mallory Cohen was eastbound just past the Ohio Turnpike split when the passenger side rear tire on the four-door, 2005 Honda Accord she was driving blew out.

Gorski said Cohen veered left under the eastbound truck and the Accord was dragged 300 feet. He said Cohen was out of the car and appeared uninjured when firefighters and police arrived. The truck driver was also unhurt.

Cohen, 21, of Arcadia, Calif., was taken to St. John Medical Center for precautionary measures. She was charged with failure to control.

    What is the current year?
Here’s the survey question that was posed in order to keep reading the story on this page. Seriously??

Sad thing is there are probably people who don’t even know.

I hope one choice for an answer was “none of the above,” since it is 2014.

      I would have answered 1776…laughing.

No, there was no “none of the above”, that’s the one I wanted, too. So I did what you would’ve, I picked “1776″, and it told me that I must’ve chosen my answer too quickly!!! Maybe I should go back and look at the answers again. So I chose 2013. SMH

How can a person be cited for ‘failure to control’ when a tire blows out? It wasn’t her fault. I can see if she was under the influence of something because that was done deliberately. A tire blow out is beyond anyone’s control.

      Remember. It’s Ridgetucky………
      Barney had to do something

    • HankKwah

They have to cite someone. Believe it or not. And since it was her car and she was unable to control it…. Yes, I know exactly what you’re thinking.

  • luvmytoaster

Wow, I guess she is (by way of the car) at fault but how do you control a car with a blown-out tire?

Route 511 is not in North Ridgeville-it is in Oberlin. Maybe they mean Lorain Road?
