Sports medicine, rehabalitation clinic to open in Avon

LORAIN — In the latest marriage of medicine and sports, Mercy Regional Medical Center and Avon’s T3 Performance sports training center are teaming to open a sports medicine and rehabilitation clinic.

The partnership, announced Tuesday by both parties, will bring Mercy’s Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation Services within the confines of the 30,000-square-foot athletic complex at 1200 Chester Industrial Parkway in Avon.

According to information provided by Mercy’s marketing and communications manager, LeeAnn Hastings, T3 Performance is a training facility for athletic coaching and lessons in baseball, softball, football, volleyball and lacrosse.

About 20,000 square feet of the complex is devoted to open turf space for teams of all ages to practice, conduct lessons or train.

The onsite sports medicine and rehabilitation clinic to be provided by Mercy will allow athletes to access care ranging from wellness and injury prevention education, injury screenings and walk-in appointments to rehabilitation using the same equipment they use to train with.

Dr. James M. Anthony, medical director of the Mercy Occupational Health Center, will serve as chief medical adviser while Heather Jennings, sports medicine coordinator for Mercy Regional Medical Center, will oversee sports medicine operations.

T3 Performance is owned by Mike D’Andrea, who could not be reached for comment.

Call the sports medicine and rehabilitation clinic at (440) 934-2644 for an appointment.
