Gerald Joseph Vogel, 72, of Brook Park, passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2014, at Southwest General Health Center, following a short illness. He was born in Cleveland, where he resided most of his life until moving to Brook Park.
Mr. Vogel served in the U.S. Air Force from 1959-1963. He worked as a tool maker at Chevy Parma Plant for 32 years, retiring in 1996. His hobbies included model trains and making and collecting movies.
Survivors include his son, Gerald Joseph (Margaret) Vogel; grandchildren, Kevin Joseph (Jaclyn McConnell) and Abbey Margaret Vogel, all of North Ridgeville; sisters, Joannie (Russ) Raedel, Donna Sashko, both of Middleburg Heights; brother, Joseph (Carol) Vogel of North Ridgeville; sister-in-law, Janet “Bambi”” Vogel of Westlake; nephews, Jim (Annie), Scott, Austin (Rachael); nieces, Heather, Christina, Deanna (Mike), Molly (Pat) and Emma; great-nephews, Jimmy, Greg, Tyler and great niece, Julia.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Bertha Vogel; brother, James Vogel; and brother-in-law, Bobby Sashko.
The family will receive friends from 5 until 8 P.M., Friday, June 20, 2014, at Bogner Family Funeral Home, 36625 Center Ridge Road, N. Ridgeville, where a prayer service will be held 9:30 A.M., Saturday, June 21, 2014, followed by 10 A.M. Mass at St. Peter Church, 35777 Center Ridge Road, N. Ridgeville. The Reverend Robert Franco and the Reverend Mr. Robert Walling will con-celebrate. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Brook Park.
