Lorain County airport extends Metro Life Flight contract

Metro Life Flight has extended its contract with Lorain County Regional Airport through 2017, with options running through 2019.

Metro Life Flight, MetroHealth Medical Center’s critical care transport program, has been a tenant of the airport since 2009. The Airbus EC-145 helicopter is staffed around the clock by two pilots and two medical crew members.

Severely injured Lorain County residents are most commonly flown to MetroHealth, the area’s only Level 1 adult trauma center.

In 2013, Metro Life Flight completed more than 700 patient missions from its Lorain base, including hospital transfers and scene runs.

How many “severely injured” were treated, and released? AKA, if you don’t have insurance, and can’t pay, you get a “free ride” in a helicopter.

I always wonder how they get back from Cleveland………………

The taxpayer subsidized airport needs all of the cash customers it can get. Has the farmer who leases the field around the airport renewed also ?

3X Family members have been flown by Life Flight, two with Car accidents both critical Both the Metro. The Trauma staff is outstanding. The other was a major medical (massive stroke) flown to Cleveland clinic. I for one am grateful for Life flight and wish they had been in the area when my first two family members need them. ( They were out of Cleveland at the time).
