AMHERST — A custodian at Harris Elementary School has been indicted on charges in connection with an alleged sexual assault of a child at the school April 5.
Raymond J. Tiller, 56, has been indicted by a county grand jury with two counts of gross sexual imposition and one count of abduction.
The incident involved a child who was not a student, Amherst police said.
Tiller was arrested May 6 at the Oberlin home of a friend following a police investigation.
He was placed on paid administrative leave following his arrest, according to school officials who indicated the district would take no further action until the matter is decided in court.
Police have not released details of the alleged assault.
Tiller has been employed by Amherst Schools since 2003 and had no school-related offenses, said Mike Molnar, the school system’s executive director of educational services.
