Rose Marie Clark

Clark_Rose MarieRose Marie Clark (nee Wechter), 93, of LaGrange, formerly of Huron, passed away Saturday, June 21, 2014, at Mercy Allen Hospital in Oberlin, with her daughter by her side. Rose Marie was born February 19, 1921, in Huron, to the late William E. and Rose E. (nee Landoll), who owned and operated the Huron Dairy.

She was married in 1942 to James J. Clark, whom she met at a dance; he preceded her in death in 1974. She made her home with her loving and devoted eldest son on the same family farm on which she lived her life since the age of 21. Over the years, family, friends and neighbors were welcomed there to many gatherings, parties and celebrations that were always a success, due to Rose Marie’s tireless efforts of organizing and good cooking. There are many fond memories and stories to recall by those who were entertained by dancing, pony rides, pig roasts, and swimming in the pond. Throughout her life, Rose Marie belonged to many organizations and clubs, including those when her five children were young, such as the Altar and Rosary Society, a leader of “Catholic Daughters”, P.T.U., and 4-H Club. She enjoyed her “Neighborhood Club”, Pinochle Club and travel RV club. She traveled to Ireland and Hawaii , RV’d or drove to many destinations across the U.S., with many family and friends. It was the journey with her that was the most memorable and fun. Although in recent years her health had begun to limit her activities, her mind and wit were sharp and she continued to be as caring and thoughtful as always. The lives that Rose Marie touched were all better having known her. She was the proud mother of a U.S. Marine Corp Veteran. She met life’s burdens with grace and shared her joys and blessings with all.

Rose Marie will be greatly missed by her son, James W. Clark of LaGrange; and her daughter, Katherine Clark of Elyria.
