Johnny Manziel has been drafted in yet another sport – this time, basketball.
The Harlem Globetrotters held their eighth annual player draft today, and Cleveland Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel was among the athletes drafted.
“We like to think outside the box with our draft, so we look at all different kinds of athletes that could have the qualities of a Harlem Globetrotter,” said Sweet Lou Dunbar, the Globetrotters’ director of player personnel. “We know that Johnny Manziel is a fantastic athlete that knows how to be entertaining. ‘Johnny Basketball’ has a nice ring to it, doesn’t it?”
Manziel was the Browns’ second first-round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, coming off the board at 22nd overall. Manziel was also drafted by the San Diego Padres in the 28th round of the Major League Baseball draft earlier this month.
Additional draft picks for the Globetrotters were Marcus Lewis, Tyler Inman, Sim Bhullar, Landon Donovan, Mitchell Wiggins Jr., and Nick Wiggins.
