He graduated from Ohio State in 1942, and then served as a U.S. Navy officer during WWII. He was employed by Penn State University as a research engineer, moved to Cleveland in 1966 and retired from serving as president of the BBB in 1985. He then began a 20 plus year career of volunteering at St. John West Shore Hospital. He enjoyed many years of traveling with his wife in their motor home and he was a gifted craftsman in stained glass.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Marjorie; father to William (Holly), Robert (Linda) and Daniel; grandfather to Julie, Bryan, Shannon, Amanda, Taylor and Courtney; great-grandfather to nine children; cherished companion to Carolyn Colby, and a wonderful friend to many.
A memorial service will be at Dover Congregational Church Sunday, June 29, 2014, at 2 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Dover Congregational Church in Westlake or St. John West Shore Hospital.
