2014 Fourth of July fireworks, celebrations

Avon Lake will have its Fireworks Celebration 6:30 to 11 p.m. Thursday at Weiss Field.

In Avon, the Lake Erie Crushers will have a USA Birthday celebration, complete with cake and fireworks, at Friday’s game at All Pro Freight Stadium in Avon.

Grafton will hold its Independence Day celebration on Friday. Food and fun begins at 5 p.m. at Willow Park, and fireworks will start at dark.

Elyria’s Salute to America: the Great American Picnic and Fireworks Show is scheduled for Wednesday at West Park, 1200 Foster Ave., Elyria. In case of rain, festivities will be Thursday. Activities will run 4 to 10:45 p.m. and feature food, family games, live music and fireworks.

Lorain will host fireworks 10 p.m. Friday at Black River Landing. The Port Fest Celebration will begin at 5 p.m. and include musical entertainment 7 to 10 p.m.

North Ridgeville’s Party in the Park will be 7 to 9:30 p.m. Thursday at South Central Park, with fireworks at dusk. Activities include games, face painting and live music. The rain date for fireworks only is Saturday.

Olmsted Falls and Olmsted Township will host a bicentennial celebration on Friday with a parade at 10:30 a.m., a cornerstone festival noon to 10:30 p.m. and fireworks at 10 p.m. The events are at the Olmsted Falls middle and intermediate school campus, 27045 Bagley Road. There will be live music, games and entertainment for the family throughout the day.

Oberlin will hold fireworks Thursday beginning at dusk at the Oberlin Recreation Complex, 225 W. Hamilton St. The rain date is Saturday.

Rochester will host the 95th annual homecoming celebration Friday at Eagle Street Park and Fire Station. The food tent opens at 8 a.m., parade registration runs 9 to 10:15 a.m., the parade begins 10:30 a.m., the Historical Society on South Street will host an open house noon to 5 p.m., there will be contests at the park at 4 p.m. for all ages, the country and western bands Southern Crossroads and Willow Creek will perform beginning 4:30 p.m., there will be rides and games starting 5 p.m. and a fireworks display will take place at dusk.

Wellington will hold its Celebration in the Park on Thursday and Friday. Events will be in Town Hall Park, with fireworks at the fairgrounds at dusk Thursday. On Friday, events start 11:30 a.m. with a 3 p.m. parade.
