Gary N. Sobolewski, Sr., 69, of Avon, passed away Friday, June 27, 2014 at the Veterans Administration Hospital, Wade Park, Cleveland, after a lengthy illness. He was born August 29, 1944 in Cleveland and has lived in Avon for 23 years.
He retired as a Millwright after working 40 years in his field. He was a member of St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Avon and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
Gary is survived by his wife of 24 years, Vickie (nee Kebbel); children, Gary Jr. (Clarissa) of Avon, Jason (Jewel) of Brunswick, Katie and Joseph of Avon; grandfather of Allyson, Alayna, Jason, Jr., Keith, Michael and Nathan; brother of Cindy Golden (Andy Russo) and Rick Groves.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Stanley Sobolewski and Helen Groves (nee Cvar); and a sister, Kathleen Roderick.
Friends will be received Wednesday, July 2, 2014 from 4 to 8 P.M. at the Misencik Funeral Home, 36363 Detroit Rd., Avon, where closing prayers will be Thursday, July 3, 2014 9:30 A.M., followed by a 10 A.M. Mass at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Avon. A Private interment will follow in the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman.
