LORAIN — After an argument Thursday night, police said an intoxicated woman stabbed a homeless man who had been staying over in her house.

Valerie Hough, 60, was charged with felonious assault about 10 p.m. Thursday at her apartment on the 1800 block of Homewood Drive after she stabbed James Chambers, 56, who had been staying over at her house, according to police.

Hough told police Chambers has been staying at her house but doesn’t do any housework, leading to an argument between the two. She told police Chambers slapped her during the argument and she stabbed him twice with a knife.

Police found Chambers sitting outside the apartment with a wound on his arm and another in his stomach. Chambers gave a similar story to Hough’s, saying that the two had been drinking and Hough was jealous that he wasn’t spending more time with her, which led to an argument. Hough stabbed him with a knife and he slapped her before going outside to look for police, according to a report.

Police searched the house and found a bloody knife along with blood stains on the carpet and a coffee table inside the apartment.
Hough was taken to Lorain County Jail where she was being held Tuesday on $25,000 bond.
