Janet M. Hodge, 70, of North Ridgeville, passed away Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center in Elyria, following a short illness. She was born in Elyria on June 15, 1944. Janet had been a resident of North Ridgeville for most of her life.
She was a 1962 graduate of North Ridgeville High School and received her Bachelor’s degree from Ashland University in 1966. She also had a Master’s degree from Kent State University and she also did additional extensive graduate work. Janet was a retired math teacher and was employed by North Olmsted City Schools for over 30 years. She was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in North Ridgeville and of the Red Hat Society. She enjoyed doing crafts.
Janet is survived by her mother, Helen Hodge (nee Modock) of North Ridgeville; sister, Carol Cowley of Tracy City, Tennessee; brother, Richard Hodge (Charlotte) of North Ridgeville; one niece, three nephews and several great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Weston Hodge in 1984.
The family will receive friends Sunday, July 6, 2014 from 2 to 5 P.M. at the Liston Funeral Home, 36403 Center Ridge Rd., (at Stoney Ridge Rd.), North Ridgeville. A prayer service will be held Monday, July 7, 2014 at 9:20 A.M. in the funeral home, followed by a 10 A.M. funeral Mass at St. Peter Catholic Church, 35777 Center Ridge Rd., North Ridgeville. Reverend Robert Franco, Pastor of St. Peter Church, will celebrate the Mass. Burial will be at St. Peter Cemetery in North Ridgeville.
The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association.
