Eleanor was primarily a homemaker, but worked as a bus driver for many years for Murray Ridge and was a foster parent to many children. She and her husband owned and operated a fruit and vegetable stand at their home in Elyria. She volunteered her time at polio drives, heart disease drives, Air Force Mothers’ events and committees, and provided personal homecare for seniors in Lorain County. Later in life, Eleanor obtained the goal of accomplishing her GED. She was a member of Lake Avenue United Church of Christ of Elyria and enjoyed making braided rugs, gardening, her pets, and riding horses.
Mrs. Folley is survived by her children, Sharon M. Whitmore of LaGrange, Donald H. Folley, Jr. (Carolyn) of Destin, Florida, Terry Folley (Debbie) of Elyria, and Jessie Smith (Jeffrey, Sr.) of Yulee, Florida; 22 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; nine great-great-grandchildren; aunt to many nieces and nephews; friend of many within the community.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald H. Folley, Sr., (1985); sisters, June Sessler, Marge Derringer, Mary Bauer; brothers, Ray Helling, Sherwood Byam, James Byam, Jay Byam, and Jack Byman.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. Inurnment will be at Brookdale Cemetery, Elyria.
