OBIT FLAGSharp_IrwinIrwin E. Sharp, 82, of Wellington, passed away Friday, July 4, 2014, at Keystone Point in LaGrange, after a long illness. He was born March 28, 1932, in Oberlin.

He was a married to his wife, Carol for 59 years. He worked as a machinist for Lear Romec (Crane) in Elyria for 38 years, retiring in 1995. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Irwin was a member of the V.F.W. Post#1079 in Elyria. He enjoyed bowling, gardening, Cleveland Indians baseball, Westerns, taking long walks with Carol and being active, riding his stationary bike.

He is survived by his wife, Carol J. Sharp of Pittsfield Township; sons, Dennis I. Sharp and David E. Sparp, both of Wellinton; daughter, Dorothy Sharp of Norwalk; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother, William J. Sharp of Wakeman; and sister, Wilma Coates of Vermilion.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy C. Sharp; father, Darwin L. Sharp, Sr.; stepmother, Aldine Sharp, stepfather, Jack Carter; daughter, Debra Jean Sharp; great-granddaughter, Faith Sharp; brother, Darwin L. Sharp Jr.; sister, Phyllis Carnada and stepsister, Joan Widdowson.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 8, 2014, 6 until 8 P.M., at Cowling Funeral Home, Oberlin. Funeral Service will be Wednesday, July 9, 2014, 11 A.M., at the funeral home. Interment will be at Pittsfield Cemetery, with full military honors conducted by VFW Post #1079 and Wellington Eagles Club #2051.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association.
