LORAIN — A Lorain man facing an aggravated burglary charge is due in Lorain Municipal Court Thursday.
Aaron Applegate is accused of breaking into a garage at 921 W. 11th St. about 1:10 a.m.
Saturday, according to a police report. Applegate, of the 900 block of West 11th, was arrested and charged with aggravated burglary.
Applegate said he went to the garage, where two men were living, to get his girlfriend, the police report said. Applegate said the woman is a drug addict and he believed she was doing drugs in the garage.
Robert Rosemark, who lives in the garage, said Applegate kicked in the door and began to assault the woman. Rosemark said he pushed Applegate out of the garage and when Applegate swung a weed whacker at him, he head-butted Applegate.
Applegate, 35, has an extensive criminal record including convictions for assault, resisting arrest and robbery. He was held late Monday at Lorain County Jail in lieu of a $10,000 bond.
